Trailer 1: December 4, 2023

Rockstar planned to debut the first trailer on December 5, 2023, but it leaked online, so Rockstar posted it early on December 4. It was a YouTube exclusive and introduced Lucia, Vice City and the state of Leonida.

Guinness World Records recognized three records, as reported by Dexerto:

  • Most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours: 90,421,491 views
  • Most-liked video game trailer on YouTube in 24 hours: 8.9 million likes
  • Most-viewed non-music YouTube video in 24 hours, beating MrBeast’s 59.4 million

Some outlets, including TechRadar, round the first-day total to 93 million. The Guinness figure is the safer number to quote.

Trailer 2: May 6, 2025

Trailer 2 arrived days after Rockstar delayed the game to May 2026. It introduced Jason properly and launched the official character and location pages. According to TechRadar, citing The Hollywood Reporter, Rockstar said it “received 475 million views across all platforms within 24 hours of its release.” Rockstar called it the biggest video launch of all time.

Keep in mind this number counts every platform. On YouTube alone, TechRadar reported about 85 million views at the time, which is lower than Trailer 1’s first day.

An Extended Look: August 27, 2026

This was not called “Trailer 3.” Rockstar premiered “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET on August 27, 2026, then posted it free on YouTube and the GTA VI site six hours later at 9 p.m. ET, as VGC reported. It runs about 27 minutes and was captured on PS5.

TechSpot reported 31.1 million Netflix views in four days and more than 20 million YouTube views. These are reported figures; Rockstar has not published its own total.

Launch Trailer: October 15, 2026

The Launch Trailer went live on October 15, 2026, about five weeks before release. Push Square reports it was captured entirely on PS5 and features “Flower in a Hurricane,” a new track from Justice, who are composing the game’s score. It focuses on Jason and Lucia’s relationship and mixes gameplay with cutscenes. No official view record has been announced.

Is there a Trailer 3?

No video has been officially named Trailer 3. Fans used that label for the Extended Look, but Rockstar’s numbered trailers stop at 2. With launch on November 19, the Launch Trailer is likely the last big pre-release video. For launch-day timing, see GTA 6 release time, and for download prep, how to preload GTA 6.
