Roblox Promo Codes vs In-Game Codes: How to Redeem Each
Roblox has two kinds of codes, and they go in two different places. Roblox promo codes and gift card codes are entered on the official redeem page at roblox.com/redeem. In-game codes are made by each game’s developer and are typed into a box inside that game, not on the Roblox website.
Mixing them up is the most common reason a code “doesn’t work.” This guide shows where each one goes, based on Roblox’s Help Center as checked in October 2026.
Quick comparison
| Roblox promo / gift card code | In-game code | |
|---|---|---|
| Who makes it | Roblox (or a gift card you bought) | The game’s developer |
| Where to enter it | roblox.com/redeem in a web browser | A codes box inside that one game |
| What you get | Robux, credit, or a virtual item | In-game rewards for that game only |
| Works in other games? | Yes, it is tied to your account | No, only in the game that made it |
How to redeem a Roblox promo or gift card code
Roblox says most codes must be redeemed in a web browser. The regular mobile app and consoles do not support redeeming.
- Open a web browser and go to roblox.com/redeem.
- Log in to your Roblox account.
- Type the code into the text box.
- Click Redeem.
- Wait for the confirmation message that your credit or item was added.
If you use the Roblox app on a Samsung Galaxy device, Roblox says you can also redeem in the app: open the More page, tap the Redeem tile, and enter the code.
How to redeem an in-game code
In-game codes are not part of Roblox’s own system, so every game does it a little differently. The general pattern looks like this:
- Open the game you want the code for on Roblox.
- Look for a button labeled Codes, Shop, Settings, or a gift or bird icon. Many games put the code box inside one of these menus.
- Type the code exactly as written. Many games treat codes as case-sensitive.
- Press the redeem or submit button in that game.

Why your code is not working
- Wrong place: An in-game code typed on roblox.com/redeem will fail, and a Roblox promo code will not work inside a game’s codes box.
- Look-alike characters: Roblox suggests swapping similar characters if you get an error, such as 0 and O, 1 and I, 2 and Z, 5 and S, 8 and B.
- Wrong device: If you are on a console or the regular phone app, switch to a web browser for Roblox codes.
- Expired in-game code: Developers often turn off old codes. Check the game’s description for current ones.
- One at a time: You can redeem many gift cards, but Roblox says to enter them one at a time.
Stay safe with codes
Roblox says offers of free Robux or prizes in exchange for your account details are scams. You never need to give your password to redeem any code. Only enter Roblox codes on roblox.com, and only enter in-game codes inside the game itself.
FAQ
Can I redeem a Roblox code in the mobile app?
Usually no. Roblox says the standard mobile app and consoles do not support redeeming. Samsung Galaxy users can redeem from the More page in the app. Everyone else should use a web browser.
Do in-game codes give Robux?
In-game codes give rewards inside that one game, set by its developer. Robux comes from Roblox itself, for example through gift cards redeemed at roblox.com/redeem.
Where do I find new in-game codes?
Start with the game’s description on its Roblox page and the developer’s official community. Our codes pages, like Don’t Splash codes, collect them in one place.
Does Roblox give refunds on gift cards?
Roblox’s Help Center says it does not offer gift card refunds.
