How to Spot Fake Free Robux Scams on Roblox (and Report Them)

Any website, video, or player that promises free Robux in exchange for your password, a login, or a download is a scam. Roblox’s own safety guidance says offers of free Robux or prizes in exchange for account details are scams, and Roblox staff will never ask for your password. If you see one on Roblox, report it with the built-in Report tools.

Here are the warning signs to watch for, what to do if you already clicked, and how to report scams the official way. All steps below come from the Roblox Help Center, checked October 2026.

Red flags of a free Robux scam

  • It asks for your password, 2-step codes, or backup codes. Roblox says to never share these with anyone.
  • It sends you off Roblox. Roblox says to only trust roblox.com links and to only log in on roblox.com or the official apps.
  • A game asks you to log in. Roblox says if an experience asks for your login info, leave it and report it.
  • It wants you to download a program or browser extension. Roblox says it does not make browser extensions and warns against unverified downloads.
  • It asks you to share your screen while you are logged in or on a login page.
  • It claims to be Roblox staff and asks for account details. Real staff will not.

Real ways to get Robux

Robux comes from Roblox itself, such as buying it in the official app or website, or redeeming a Roblox gift card at roblox.com/redeem. There is no “generator.” In-game codes from developers, like the ones on our Make The Logo codes page, give rewards inside that one game, not Robux.

How to report a scam on Roblox

Roblox asks you to report the exact chat, message, experience, or item, not just the user’s profile, because moderators need to see what happened.

Inside an experience:

  1. Open the menu with the Roblox icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Select the flag icon next to the user’s name, or open the Report tab.
  3. Choose the Person tab, then pick the username under “Which Person?”
  4. Choose the reason under “Reason for Abuse?” and add a short description.
  5. Select Submit.

In chat (mobile app): tap the (i) icon in the upper-right, select the user or the (…) next to their name, then choose Report Abuse.

A whole scam game: on the game’s page, use the Report Abuse button in the lower-right of the description box.

A scam item (like a shirt or model): click the three-dot button on the item’s info box and choose Report item.

If you already gave away your password

  1. Log in and change your password right away in Settings under Account Info. Pick one you do not use anywhere else.
  2. Turn on 2-step verification. Roblox recommends the authenticator app method.
  3. Make sure the email on your account is yours or a parent’s, and that it is verified.
  4. Log out of shared computers when you are done playing.

Tips for parents

Talk with kids about one simple rule: nobody gets your password, ever, not even for free Robux. Roblox also says to get parent permission before installing any software. Linking a parent account through Parental Controls lets you set spending limits and see your child’s connections.

FAQ

Are Robux generators real?

No. Roblox says offers of free Robux in exchange for account details are scams. Robux comes from Roblox’s official store or redeemed gift cards.

Will Roblox staff ever ask for my password?

No. Roblox says its staff will never ask for your password or other account details.

Should I report from the scammer’s profile?

Roblox advises reporting the specific chat, message, game, or item instead, so moderators can see what the person did.

Is a free item from a promo code a scam?

Not if you redeem it yourself on roblox.com/redeem. It becomes a scam when a site asks for your login to “give” you the item.
