Is GTA 6 on PC? Release Date, Rumors and What Take-Two Said
No, GTA 6 is not coming to PC at launch. On November 19, 2026, it releases only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a PC version or a PC release date. Based on Rockstar’s history, a PC version is likely to follow later, but nothing is official.
What Take-Two has said about GTA 6 on PC
In a Bloomberg interview published on May 5, 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained why GTA 6 skips PC at launch:
“Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core.”
He did not confirm a PC version in that interview, and did not give any timing.
When could GTA 6 come to PC?
Rockstar’s last two big games both came to PC around a year or more after consoles:
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA 5 | September 2013 | April 2015 | ~19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | ~13 months |
| GTA 6 | November 2026 | Not announced | ? |
If GTA 6 follows the same pattern, a PC release in late 2027 or 2028 would be in line with the past. That is an educated guess from history, not a leak or an announcement.
Ignore old “early 2026” PC claims
In February 2025, an executive at PC hardware maker Corsair said on an earnings call that his understanding was GTA 6 would reach PC in early 2026. That was based on the old 2025 console date and was never confirmed by Take-Two or Rockstar. With the console version now launching in November 2026, that claim is out of date.
How to play GTA 6 if you only have a PC
- Buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. These are the only ways to play at launch. The Series S is the cheapest option, but check the GTA 6 file size first because its storage is small.
- Cloud streaming: Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for any cloud service at launch. Do not pay for a cloud subscription expecting GTA 6 unless it is officially listed.
- Wait for the PC version: if you can avoid spoilers for a year or more, you will likely get the best-looking version later.
Watch out for fake “GTA 6 PC download” sites
Any website, video or file claiming to offer a GTA 6 PC download, beta or early access is fake. These often carry malware or try to steal your accounts. GTA 6 for PC does not exist yet.
